Large Solid State Laser Amplifier -- This amplifier has been sold for my asking price
This is a large solid state laser amplifier I picked up a while ago in Canada. It's an impressive piece of laser equipment sporting six oval amplifier plates approximately 4 inches x 8 inches x 3/4" thick or so. These are mounted onto a welded frame and then surrounded by a glass tube. There are 16 xenon flashlamps total, which are about 48" long, and 3/4" in diameter. They're HUGE. On person has estimated that this entire unit could see about 100,000 joules of input energy on the flash lamps. I have no idea what it's actual specs are though, so it's up for speculation.
All and all it appears to be in pretty good shape, the flashlamps still contain gas as can be seen in some of the photos of arcs. Looking at it originally I thought this unit was water cooled, seemed to have the proper fittings, but as I look at it more, it seems less and less like a water cooling system. I still need to research this unit alot and see if there is even a chance of finding information on it. In the photo's you will notice some mineral deposits of some sort on some of the glass, the beam amplifier plates are pretty clean, mostly just the parts exposed to the 'coolant' section. The deposits clean right off though so not a big deal :)
If you know anything about this unit, please feel free to e-mail me, a friend of mine found a picture of similar devices on a Pharos III web page over here, Pharos III Laser Image but there are some difference between the designs so I don't think this is the exact same unit. At any rate here are some photo's of the laser amplifier, since I don't know much about it as of yet I'm not going annotate the images as they should be self explanatory. Each half of the shell consists of 8 flashlamps with an external high voltage trigger.
